Darren Lee Cole directs this beautiful piece “inspired by the beauty of nature, the warmth of the people and the rhythm of the communities of Costa Rica,” said Ulrike G Jenkins, manager of the Teatro Jacó.
Its writers from New York, Michael Sgouros and Brenda Bell, managed to convey the popular fervor in the country with very finely balanced bilingual dialogues, where the work is completely understandable to English-speaking audiences as Spanish, keeping the attention of adults and kids, by a happy rhythm dynamic and live music that makes dance to more than one.
“It’s a magical journey to Costa Rica through stories, legends, dance and music that will captivate your heart beats to the rhythm of a drum new, but old” says Jenkins, who tells us that the creative cast was the same who mounted the piece that opened the theater a year ago “Chritsmas Carol” where professional actors with community people from Jacó gave a show that still lingers in the minds of its spectators.
This musical has a happy and contagious staging, with interspersed between contemporary and classical dance, catchy songs, vibrant live music by the rhythm of percussion and captivating stories with imaging features of Costa Rica that we are immersed in the fantastic stories that are part of the culture passed from generation to generation.
